Best Seat in the House

The closest I ever got to the major leagues is the 14th row of the bleacher seats I sit and cheer, and drink my beer, and pick the peanuts from my teeth Then another year brought another candle flame, on my little boy's fourth NASCAR birthday cake And he was old enough, to wear my old glove, and hit a fastball off a tee Now, on the weekends I am found Watching my boy on the mound And you know it's true, I've got the best seat in the house I've never understood the kind of green it takes, for a bunch of grown men to play a little kids game But that's just me, or could it be, that we've all done lost our way Cause the losing is just as tough to take, and the winning as sweet as birthday cake When you play the game, it's all the same, you'd be out there just for free So as for me it's pretty clear You will find me sitting here And wouldn't you know I got the best seat in the house Some say I'm living through him, and maybe some of that is true But if pride's what you're detecting, I'm guilty as accused I wouldn't trade a minute in my lawn chair seat for the comfort of a corporate box office suite That's why on the weekends I am found Watching my boy on the mound And you know it's true, I've got the best seat in the house Won't you know, I got the best seat in the house |
